"Thanks." Nighthunder mewed, feeling a little bad because he had made Storm hunt for him. "But you still haven't answered my question. What do you think will happen? You don't think-" he gulped. "that Shadowstar will say something about it at the Gathering in two weeks? That might completely destroy our new alliance against BloodClan!"

Storm stared at him and began washing his paw during Nightthunder's speech. Then, as he finished, Storm ran through his memories of ShadowStar. For a while, the cats sat in silence but finally Storm broke it, his voice dangerously soft. "Knowing ShadowStar, He will probably not mention it but it will come at a cost." He sighed.

Nighthunder sighed. "I small blessing, that. I know Shadowstar of old, but he isn't the same as before. Cats change, I guess. I don't know how he'll react if I try and go back. And even then, I'd have to forsake my heart..." Nighthunder's eyes squeezed shut, and he shook slightly. "I don't think I can make this choice, Storm."

"ShadowStar is not evil or cold, NightThunder" Storm meowed somehow dangerously, "He is just worried"
"The arrival or BloodClan has shocked both him and SandStar. No doubt MorningStar and FeatherStar too. There is a lot more tension about it. If BloodClan is getting closer then NightDance is likely to be the first target. If I know ShadowStar, He wont give up his brother. He is worried about your safety and I am sure he wont care what decision you make"
Storm laid a tail on NightThunder's shoulder.

"BloodClan." Nighthunder murmured, his eyes glazing over for a few seconds. His thoughts whirled, collided, and didn't really make sense anymore. "There are rumors, Storm. Rumors that StarClan has predicted we will lose against BloodClan. There are more that say that, because we will lose, StarClan has abandoned us. But I don't believe that. StarClan is always with us; they would never leave us for dead. And as for losing," The brown tomcat just shrugged. "It won't be easy, but I think we can win."

Storm smiled gently, his once cold frown turned to a gentle smile. The wisdom glowed in his gentle blue eyes. For once the young cat seemed old. He was older than NightThunder and his fur was slightly tinged with gray, but he was only six years. He had a good number of years left.
“I know we shall win” Storm breathed… ’I hope…’ he added silently.

Nighthunder smiled in return, and he felt his head clear a little. "Thanks." He snapped up a mouse in his jaws and tore hungrily into it. He hadn't realized he was so hungry. Staying up all night, with all that stress - man, that would work up an appetite in any cat.

"I had better go hunting" The wise cat meowed and leaped up the haystacks. Finally he plunged down into a network of warm nesting of hay. He soon returned with a plump mouse. He leaped back over the stacks and back onto the hay and feather layered ground. He dropped it and began snacking on the fresh meats.

Nighthunder winced slightly. "Let me help you, Storm." he mewed. He leaped from hay bale to hay bale, making his way to the rafters of the barn. His ears twitched slightly as the sound of soft scuffling met his ears. He crouched and slowly made his way along the narrow boards. He drew closer to the fat mouse. Suddenly, instead of pouncing and snapping the thing's neck - which was dangerous on such a skinny alley - his paw flashed out. His claws sunk into the mouse's tail, and, before it could react, tossed it to the ground. There was a muffled snapping sound as the mouse died. Nighthunder smiled grimly and moved on, trying to think of nothing but the hunt.

Storm finally finished his mouse and heaved himself up. In one huge bound he landed on the hay bales, leaping up more and more until he came to his great shelf-den on the top. There he saw a mouse scuttling infront of him. It squealed in shock and darted to the edge were it pulled itself to the edge. It watched as the cat advanced and threw itself off of the den. It landed on the edge of the hay-stack and fell off.
Then another appeared. It too squeaked but scampered through the whole in the edge of the wood. Storm plunged down after it and landed safely on the hay... Ontop of the mouse.

"Classy." Nighthunder murmured. He glanced down once to reassure himself that the tom was fine before continuing onward. One of the dumber mice appeared behind him, and before the mouse could squeel, his tail lashed out and flicked it from the rafter. "Incoming, Storm!" he called.
