Featherstar felt laughter building in her throat. It would have been a funny situation, if it hadn't been so serious. She suddenly loosened the grip that one of her remaining three paws had in the dirt. She lashed out with her other front paw, trying to keep her balance at the same time.

Shadowstar reared up and slashed at the same time. He attempted to get her face but at the same time his belly was vulnerable. Featherstars strike hit but not to hard. Shadowstar yowled and slashed harder at her face.

Featherstar hissed and retracted her claws. She jumped back out of Shadowstar's range, but not fast enough. His claws tore into her ear. Pain jarred through her leg. Featherstar licked her injured paw, warily eying Shadowstar.

Shadowstar took the oppurtunity. He leaped onto her as she was distracted. His blue eyes focused on her. Would he hit? Would he miss?

Featherstar spun, ignoring the excrutiating pain emenating from her paw. She lashed out with her back paws. I must not lose this fight!

Shadowstar was hit but only lightly. Still, The impact sent him down and so he was forced to the ground. He scrambled up quickly. It was her turn now...

Featherstar regained her balance quickly. She tried not to give Shadowstar any time to recover. She flew at his side, trying futilely to ignore the pulsing pain that emanated from her paw.

Shadowstar felt her ram into him. Pain shot through his flank. He rolled over with the other cat. He tried to scrabble up but he was kept down.

((You can interrupt anytime you want, Whiteflash!!! Ow. Beginning to run out of creative ideas, here.))
Surprise crossed Featherstar's face as she realized the disorienting roll downhill ended up with Shadowstar pinned. "So what's it going to be, Shadowstar?" she muttered, mostly to herself.

Shadowstar hissed. An idea flickered into him. She was on top. But she was busy. She had forgotten an element very easy to miss but it could cause fatal flaws in the attack. He kicked out with his powerful hind legs to scrape her belly. He wriggled from her grasp and stood out of the possible blood spill zone.

Featherstar screeched and leaped back. Gingerly she pawed her stomach, but the wounds were superficial at best. She hissed and clawed at Shadowstar's face.
Even as she swung, light cracked over the horizon. A stray thought for her Clan shot through her brain. The dawn patrol would be just waking up, as would Lightningfire. How would her Clan react when they awoke and saw her missing? Hopefully Lightningfire would be the first to notice her absence and continue on as normal, organizing patrols and such and trying to placate the worries of her warriors. She shoved her own worry to the back of her mind. If she focused only on the battle, she might win.

WINDCLAN
Lightningfire padded up as he had woken earlier than the rest. He looked into Featherstar's den... She needed to concentrate on what she was doing... He must stop them from finding out. He watched the dawnlight begin to reach and flood over the land. The scent was old... Must have left last night as Featherstar did.
SHADOWSTAR
Shadowstar hissed. His blue eyes glittered in extreme power. He raised his claws but then he was hit in the face. His head twisted to the side then he flung it back to the center... again. But now he had a long scar swiped down his eye. He screeched angrily. Then he raised his claw again and flung it as fast as anything at the cat standing infront of him. Rage was building up in him. He was mad.

Featherstar ducked. Shadowstar's swing missed her by inches. He's getting angry, Featherstar noted, trying to remain calm. His attacks are getting more and more chaotic. As long as I stay cool, I can win this. She took a deep breath. The entire thing was utterly ridiculous, anyway. No, don't get distracted. Featherstar leaped forward, dodging Shadowstar's attacks to the best of her ability while she tried to get in close enough for a final blow.

Shadowstar saw her dodge it. His rage was still building. This was the perfect time for his power. He reared up and then slammed down. With a yowl, his shadows duplicated and turned towards Featherstar. With a raise of his claws, All his shadows followed. They all slashed. Rage was what made him strong and kept him going.
((Just like me... xD))
