As the she-cat began to make her way up the Highrock she sighed audibly. Here was one kit she was half afraid to make into an apprentice. After all, she seemed to be an endless bundle of mischief, and more so than any kit Sandstar had ever seen. At last, she leapt upon the rock and stared down at ThunderClan. "All cats old enough to hunt their own prey come to the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" called Sandstar, her eyes looking rather pained for a moment. Well, not pained. Just rather concerned for the poor warrior who would have to train Stripekit.

SnowStorm, PineStorm, DarkRiver and Lynxpelt all padded out of their dens or busy workings at identical times. Their paws hit the ground at syncronised times, all warriors wondering what would happen. They took their places in the crowd of ThunderClan cats. Lynxpelt sat at the front, SnowStorm in the 2nd, DarkRiver in the middle and PineStorm at the back, taking care of the elders.

Mudstream came out of the Warriors Den. She padded over to join the gathering cats to hear the meeting. When she sat down she wrapped her tail around her paws. Stripekit peered out of the nursery.

Silverpaw glided out of the apprentices den. This might be her big day! Her gaze ran over Sandstar. Her eyes yelled out, "I wanna be a warrior, like everyone else!"
Dreamstep padded foward. She finally might get an apprentice!

Leapordpelt took his place beside Highrock. Amusement twinkled in his eyes, as always, but today he couldn't keep a grin from his face. He licked his paw to hide his mug. The deputy's golden eyes scanned Sandstar's face for a brief moment. "Don't worry. Whoever trains her will be fine. I'm a bit more worried about who trains Rubykit," he whispered up to his leader.

Sandstar smiled back at Leopardpelt, her ginger fur flowing lightly in the wind. "True," she replied, stretching and looking out over her Clan. With a somewhat girlish giggle followed by a sigh, the ThunderClan leader smiled down at the Clan. "Today," she yowled, "A kit is to be made into an apprentice."

Mapleclaw slid into the mob of cats, glancing around for Autumnfur. Her friend seemed off somewhere, so she sat down where she was and stared up at her leader. Not that she had anything to look forward to. She already had an apprentice. Just the thought of it made her catch her breath half way down her throat. Lightningtail curled his split tail around his paws and gave his chest a quick lick. Perhaps he was to get a new apprentice? He stole a look at his former apprentice, Mudstream. He would enjoy a new apprentice.

Stripekit's ears perked up when Sandstar said that. Maybe it was her turn to become an apprentice? She'd find out soon enough. Mudstream looked around the clearing for a quick second before looking back up at Sandstar. She started wondering who'd be the new apprentice's mentor. Although she was wondering this, she didn't expect that she'd be a mentor too soon...

Silverpaw looked at her paws. 'Not a warrior today.....' She was VERY disappointed. She glared at Sandstar, in waiting to be a warrior. But I want to be a warrior! She yowled. She didn't mean to, but she did.
Dreamstep was hopping from one paw to the next, almost peeing herself with exitment! She looked at Stripekit, and winked. Hopefully she'll be her mentor.

The long-haired she-cat was about to continue her introductory speech when a voice interrupted her. As leader, this wasn't something that Sandstar was particularly used to, nor was she pleased with the interruption. Her amber eyes began a search for where the voice had come from, and between her orbs and her ears, she discovered the source quite quickly: Silverpaw. The she-cat, usually quite a mellow and friendly cat, even a bit of a jokester, had suddenly become quite solemn indeed. Her muscles tightened and there was a brief moment in which it seemed as if the ThunderClan leader had simply turned to stone.
"Silverpaw..." The she-cat hissed, her ears back slightly as if she was speaking to a rival instead of a mere apprentice. "I will speak to you later about your...outburst." The ginger she-cat paused for a moment longer, her amber eyes narrowed; pupils becoming mere slits. But in seconds it seemed as if all had been forgotten by the leader, whose attention turned once again to the rest of her Clan.
"Err..." She took a deep, soothing breath, her eyes sparkling withe excitement once more. "As I said, today we shall make a kit an apprentice." The ginger she-cat took a moment to search for Stripekit. As soon as she saw the kit, she grinned widely. "Stripekit!" Sandstar called, looking as excited, she was sure, as the young kit was feeling herself. "Come here, please."
She smiled and ran her gaze one last time over the her Clan, assembled before her. She knew now who would be Stripekit's mentor, she was quite sure. The smile widened slightly. Oh, she did feel sorry for the warrior who would be mentoring Stripekit, but all the same. She was sure that this warrior would have fun.

Silverpaw slunk over to her mentor, who was her mate. She buried her face in his fur.
Dreamstep looked over Stripekit. Her gaze shifted from Sandstar, to Stripekit, to Silverpaw. She shifted from one paw to another. She looked to her sister, Brightheart, then over to Spottedpath. Maybe Spottedpath wanted to be Stripekit's metor as well.....
Spottedpath snorted at Silverpaw's remark. This outburst probably will only make Sandstar keep her as an apprentice for another moon. But this was his chance to be a mentor. Either that, or be mentor to one of his own kits...... Hmph! Hmmmmm......

Excitment pulsed through Stripekit as she came out of the nusery. She forced herself to remain calm... or atleast her appearance to be calm, as she made her way to infront of the Highrock. Her greenish eyes looked up excitedly at Sandstar, she would never be able to keep that much of the excitment hidden. In truth, she was probably lucky that she managed to supress most of it...

Leopardpelt's mouth twitched. Silverpaw was almost as exuberant as Stripekit. Almost. It seemed that Silverpaw's impatience had soothed Sandstar's nervousness. Quite the double-edged knife.
Suddenly he felt the burning sensation that follows extreme curiosity. Sandstar had not discussed the mentoring issue with him; she had only said it was time for Stripekit to become an apprentice. He couldn't help but be impatient to find out.

Sandstar let out another deep breath, releasing any stress that had built up in her over the course of the day. "Today," she yowled, her eyes sparkling almost as much as Stripekit's own. "Young Stripekit is to become an apprentice." She smiled over to the Clan, trying to catch a hint of fear from one of the members who weren't so keen on seeing the troublemaking kit become an apprentice, but she caught no hints from any of the assembled Clan members.
Sandstar had meant to blink as the wind dried her amber eyes, but instead she held them closed for a moment longer than a blink should hold one's eyes closed. Perhaps she was reluctant to see the troublesome kit have access to even more of the territory, but this idea was soon pushed out of her mind. No, Sandstar was glad. Perhaps some time as an apprentice would make her a little less troublesome.
All the same, it was time to at last reveal her decision of whom was to mentor the young kit. And she was sure that Stripekit's mentor would be pleased. After all, such a kit would obviously be interested in becoming a warrior, would she not? Sandstar's grin widened once more, and she held her head high, pushing out her chest slightly as breath expanded her lungs once more before she would pull back the curtains to reveal what all had been waiting for.
"With the powers of StarClan, I grant you a new name. From now on, you shall no longer be known merely as Stripekit. All must now refer to you as Stripepaw." Sandstar's amber eyes locked with the now-apprentice's green eyes whilst saying the brief speech, and then, once more, she turned from the young cat to the assembled ThunderClan.
"And for her mentor," yowled the she-cat, whose eyes flashed with happiness. All seemed so well. Newleaf had arrived, and now a kit becoming an apprentice. It was all so wonderful to the leader of ThunderClan, and she couldn't contain much of her happiness any more than Stripepaw could...and though she could tell that the young cat was trying quite hard, she could still see hints of excitement.
When Sandstar had began speaking during this ceremony, her voice had been loud and clear. But as she spoke the name of the new apprentice's mentor, her voice dropped down so that the Clan would have to strain their ears forward to catch the name. But the wind was in their favour, and blew the near-whispered words over to the Clan.
"Dreamstep."

Lightningtail suddenly realised he was leaning forward with anticipation. He pulled himself back, the smiled. Good. Dreamstep had long been waiting for an apprentice. Not syaing he was slightly disapointed he wasn't chosen. Stripekit would be a hand-full, though. Could Dreamstep handle her? He made a mental note to help out if Dreamstep looked like she needed it. But then again, maybe she wouldn't. He buried the note in the back of his mind.
